Why You Need an Air Purifier
Second-hand smoke (SHS) is a toxic brew of more than 4,000 chemicals, including over 50 known human carcinogens. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has classified SHS as a “Group A” carcinogen, a category reserved for only the most dangerous of cancer-causing compounds. In children, exposure to SHS is a proven cause of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), and can double the risk of getting pneumonia or bronchitis. SHS can not only trigger attacks among children with asthma, but can cause children without asthma to develop it.
Be aware that limiting smoking to one room, ventilating the house regularly or using air purification units will not totally protect non-smokers from SHS. The only way to fully protect non-smoking members of the family is to prevent all smoking in the house.
