BLUEAIR 203 - PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Compact, whisper-quiet and powerful – these three words describe the Blueair 203 HEPASilent air purifier to perfection. The Blueair 203 is particularly popular for use in small bedrooms and office cubicles because it not only offers high-performance air purification, but is space-efficient and virtually inaudible when operated in its HEPASilent mode. If you are a light sleeper, sensitive to noise or don’t want your air purifier to disturb co-workers in an open office environment, then the Blueair 203 is the ideal air cleaning solution for you.

Using their exclusive HEPASilent technology, Blueair air purifiers outperform ordinary medical-grade HEPA filters by combining mechanical filtration and electrostatic principles to achieve exceptional air cleaning. The Blueair 203 HEPASilent air purifier uses an advanced 3-stage media filter that is comprised of millions of ultra-thin fibres, with each of the three stages trapping progressively smaller – and potentially more harmful – particles. As contaminated air is drawn silently into the large intake at the back of the Blueair 203 air purifier, all but the finest of particles are captured by the filter. The Blueair 203’s internal ionizer than exerts a negative charge over any remaining ultra-fine particles in the air, ensuring that they adhere effortlessly to the positively-charged filter material on their next pass through the unit. This unique design allows the Blueair 203 air purifier to capture an outstanding 99.97% of particles down to 0.1 microns, i.e., 3 times smaller than the particles trapped by traditional HEPA filters.

Ideal for controlling house and textile dust, pollen, pet dander, fungi/mould spores, dust mite by-products and other allergens, the Blueair 203 HEPASilent air purifier is the perfect choice for allergy sufferers and health-conscious individuals who want a quiet, but powerful air cleaning solution. In addition, the ability of the Blueair filtration system to capture smaller particles than conventional HEPA air purifiers do means that the Blueair 203 provides better protection from hazardous, lung-penetrating particles such as ultra-fine dust, combustion particles, fine ash and printer/photocopier emissions, as well as added defence against airborne bacteria.

Traditionally, most high-performance air purifiers that use true HEPA filters in a well-sealed system require a powerful, and inherently noisy, fan to draw large volumes of air through the unit. However, in the case of the Blueair 203 HEPASilent air purifier, the hybrid filtration system achieves remarkable air cleaning results without the need for a heavy-duty fan. In its HEPASilent mode, the Blueair 203 offers whisper-silent operation with a sound level so low that you may wonder if your Blueair unit is actually on. Energy Star rated, the Blueair 203 air purifier costs pennies a day to operate, making it the ideal choice for those concerned about the impact of running an air purifier 24/7 on their electricity bill.

All Blueair air purifiers, including the Blueair 203, release absolutely no ozone or ozone by-products into the air. In fact, independent laboratory testing confirms that the ozone concentration in the air coming out of a Blueair 203 air purifier is actually lower than that of the incoming air.

While most companies use standard triclosan-coated paper or glass filter fibres in their filters, Blueair uses non-toxic polypropylene. Polypropylene is unique in a number of ways. First, it works without out-gassing or releasing irritating microscopic fibres into the air. Secondly, because Blueair filters are waterproof, they naturally resist contamination from bacteria, viruses and mould, without the need for chemical additives or washes.

Although Blueair 203 HEPASilent air purifiers are generally purchased for particle control, a thin layer of activated carbon is added to the filter to provide at least some protection from chemicals, gases and odours. For those seeking a more advanced level of chemical, gas and odour control, the Blueair 203 can be equipped with a GO (Gas & Odour) SmokeStop filter instead of the standard HEPASilent filter. Featuring 2 lbs. of coconut shell activated carbon, impregnated with a 70/30 blend of potassium hydroxide and potassium iodide, Blueair 203 GO SmokeStop air purifiers offer better adsorption of tobacco smoke, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other gaseous pollutants, while still providing the same outstanding level of particle collection as Blueair HEPASilent filters do.

To maintain peak air cleaning performance and ensure warranty coverage, the filter in the Blueair 203 HEPASilent and Blueair 203 GO SmokeStop air purifiers must be replaced every 6 months. A convenient magnetic filter replacement indicator is supplied with all Blueair 203 models to remind owners when it's time to change the filter. The Blueair filter can be replaced simply by opening the hinged back panel of the air purifier, removing the old filter, and popping in the new one. Absolutely no tools are required!

Unlike lower quality units, the precision Swedish engineering of the Blueair 203 air purifier makes this unit reliable for years of worry-free operation. Beautifully designed, Blueair 203 air purifiers have all-steel housings that are powder-coated for durability and environmental protection, without any chemical off-gassing. All Blueair air purifiers are constructed from environmentally friendly parts and recyclable components, and when discarded, Blueair filters simply decompose and the media converts into harmless carbon dioxide and water.

The compact size, ultra-quiet operation and effective air cleaning capabilities of the Blueair 203 make it the perfect air purifier for small bedrooms, workplace cubicles or any small space where noise-free operation is a must. The Blueair 203 has built-in handles for easy portability, and is a neutral white and dark grey colour to blend into virtually any décor.

** An Important Word on Air Flow Rates and Room Coverage for the Blueair 203 Air Purifier:

Many retailers and manufacturers overstate maximum room coverage figures by calculating them with air flow rates measured without filters installed (i.e., fan output) or with too low a number of air exchanges per hour to properly clean the room. Modern Alchemy Air Purifiers believes in stating the actual delivered air flow rates for the air purifiers we sell, as well as realistic room coverage figures calculated at effective air cleaning levels. Accordingly, we recommend that the Blueair 203 be used in rooms of up to 125 sq. ft. (for premium cleaning) or 250 sq. ft. (for general purpose filtration).

Also note that air purifier performance should not be judged by air flow rates and room maximums alone. Many features that make an air purifier more effective at cleaning the air actually reduce the air flow rate. For example, higher grade HEPA filters, well-sealed filtration systems and large amounts of carbon all increase air resistance and reduce delivered air flow rates.
